  • Post category:News

From 3 to 8 November 2023, soprano Teodora Gheorghiu and pianist Diana Ionescu gave a national tour, performing lieder by father of the lied Franz Schubert in four towns around the country. The tour made its début in Sibiu at the Thalia Concert Hall before continuing at the Salle Enesco-Bartók of the Oradea Philharmonic, the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, and finally the Apollonia Culture Bank in Brașov.

Soprano Teodora Gheorghiu says that the opportunity of meeting audiences in these four cities is a form of spiritual nourishment that does every artist good.

Teodora Gheorghiu is one of the magnificent singing voices that Romania has given the world in recent decades, a voice that enchanted juries at the Enesco and Reine Elisabeth competitions in the 2000s and has made a career in Europe’s major concert halls.

Diana Ionescu is a pianist with an impressive career, who has worked with numerous world-renowned artists and appeared in numerous famous concert halls.

A recital of lieder entails a huge range of emotions. We have them all. The whole palette of human moods. We have love, we have hate, we have death, life, happiness, sadness . . . All in the course of a single hour.
