In 2023, the tour featured ten concerts in Romania and one in Spain. This fifth edition of the tour was given by cellist Marin Cazacu and the Violoncellissimo chamber ensemble, whose twelve members are some of Romania’s best cellists, who have appeared in concert halls in Bucharest, Sibiu, Jassy, Timișoara, Sinaia, Focșani, Arad, Deva, Clu, Ploiești, and Madrid.
The Violoncellissimo project, which Marin Cazacu and his students launched thirty years ago, arose from a desire to develop their collective musical creativity and to bring the public closer to music, regardless of genre. It has brought not only established classical music lovers but also new audiences to the concert hall. Violoncellissimo is an orchestra made up of the country’s best cellists, one of the best-known Romanian chamber ensembles of the last twenty years, which has blazed a trail in promoting music and talented youngsters from Romania.
This year’s programme was eclectic, as the public has come to expect, featuring music of every genre adapted for cello, including soundtracks from famous films, waltzes, marches, and rock versions of works by Beethoven and Mozart.
What drives us is our love of music and the family we have created.
Marin Cazacu
